Champion Sire
SNITZEL is leading the way again in 2026.
Snitzel - Champion Sire
On Saturday 4 April: SNITZEL had
2 Stakes Winners and 3 stakes placegetters including
Campione D'Italia - 56.5 who won the breed shaping 2YO
ATC Inglis Sires' Gr1 1400m.
This was the colt’s
first Gr1 win, and it pleased us as we have a winning mare named
Altercation (American Pharoah) who is a close female relation to
Campione D'Italia.
So now he brings his
Gr1 result to her pedigree page.
Campione D'Italia’s Dam (Medaglia Valore) and Altercation’s Dam (In Times Of War) are half-sisters.
Secondly,
we purchased a yearling filly by SNITZEL x NORDIQUE (GB) by Galileo at the Magic Millions.

Our filly Snitzel x Nordique (GB) at the Magic Millions
Dynamic Syndications purchased the fabulous filly at the Magic Millions by SNITZEL x NORDIQUE (GB) in co-ownership with Arrowfield Stud and placed into the care of Ciaron Maher.
Campione D’Italia’s big finish for 4th in the Golden Slipper Gr1 was a sure sign he would relish the 1400 metres of the $1 million ATC Inglis Sires’ Gr1 on Day 1 of The Championships at Royal Randwick.
Sure enough, he did, becoming
Snitzel’s 27th Group 1 Winner and the
Ninth of Snitzel’s many brilliant progeny to achieve that level of success at 2.
Like all but one of the 5 other colts in that group of elite juvenile winners,
Campione D’Italia has now secured a future stud career.
Even better,
Snitzel also supplied the third placegetter, Inglis Millennium RL winner Fireball, and the
dam of the runner-up Miss Chanel (by Arrowfield Group 1 graduate Tagaloa), echoing the all-Snitzel trifecta in the 2017 Inglis Sires’ won by Invader from Summer Passage and Trapeze Artist.
Immediately after the race, Campione D’Italia’s jockey James McDonald was already thinking about the Champagne Stakes G1 on 18 April.
“He’s a sensational horse…He’s beautifully bred and is a horse with a real future, I’m sure he’ll run the 1600 metres right out.
“Great to see him put it together today, we’ve always had a big opinion of him. The team have done such a good job to keep him improving with each start.”
Campione D’Italia (ex Medaglia Valore by Medaglia D’Oro), also winner of the Skyline S. Gr2, was a $500,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast purchase for China Horse Club, Newgate Bloodstock & partners including the colt’s breeder Gerry Harvey. He traces to the influential broodmare Summoned, whose 40 stakes-winning descendants include five other Group 1 winners: Zeditave, Greys Inn, Melito (by Redoute’s Choice), Norzita & Smart Call, and Campione D’Italia’s brilliant Group-winning grand-dam
Military Rose.
Over at Ascot in Perth,
unbeaten 2YO filly Aurum Belle, already amongst his
15 stakes winners this season, gave her rivals a galloping lesson in the $200,000 WATC Gimcrack S. 1100m Gr3.
Given that her winning time of 1:04.24 was more than a second faster than Beatty in the Perth Stakes LR for 2YO colts & geldings, Aurum Belle will be a warm favourite for the $500,000 Karrakatta Plate Gr2 on 18 April.
Aurum Belle is the second foal of multiple Group 2 winner Dame Giselle (by I Am Invincible) and was purchased for $725,000 from at Inglis Easter.
The
42nd same-day stakes double of Snitzel’s career also takes his current season
Australian prizemoney to $19.8 million, firming up his prospects of adding a
5th General Sires’ title to a record that becomes more remarkable by the day.
